At Align, stretching and strengthening exercises are an important part of treatment. Rehabilitative exercises are necessary for recovery from acute or chronic musculoskeletal issues, as well as prevention of future injuries and flare-ups. Used appropriately, rehabilitative physiotherapy may delay or negate the need for surgery. Post-surgical conditioning is beneficial for faster improvements in range of motion and gains in strength and function. An integral part of rehabilitation for most injuries is proprioceptive training. The proprioceptors are joint and muscle position receptors, which send signals to the brain about where the body is in space. Proprioception is what allows us to walk without watching our feet for every step. Exercises utilizing gym balls, wobble and balance boards, and Tai Qi are some of the proprioceptive training instructed and practiced at Align. |
